School Council

Our School Council is a forum which allows pupils voices to be heard within our school environment, giving all children the opportunity to improve our school or the lives of others. The school council is supported by two members of staff Mrs Houghton and Mrs Parr and consists of 23 children

Each class throughout school is represented by an elected school council member, the school council has a chair, Freya and vice chair, Aaliyah,  who were elected  for this year.

We come together every two weeks to discuss ideas and issues that have been raised by pupils. Our children are enthusiastic members and are keen to fulfil their role.

Our Purpose

We are the voice of the children at Farnworth

We aim to get things done and give every child a voice and to make all decision making fair.

We have a notice board to keep all children updated.

Our Latest Project

The School Council have  been asked by Liam Mahoney, a former pupil of ours, if they can help him in his quest to help raise £1 million for Cure Leukaemia.

Liam came into school on Wednesday with Ivan Merrell (from the charity) to talk to us all about how he is going to cycle the Tour De France just before the real race. This involves Liam and his team riding approximately 2500 miles over three weeks.  He told us he has to ride about 150 miles each day in order to finish. They are riding the exact same course as the real race.  He brought his actual bike in to show us and made us try and guess how much it cost. No one got close!!

We have also held a little competition to design a logo to use on our News Letters, which was won by Antosh (Year 4) He was presented with a book about the Tour De France and a T shirt promoting what Liam is about to do. The runners up, Sammy (Year 4) and Zoe (Year 6). also won T shirts.

The School Council would like to support him by organising events to help raise lots of money for this worthy cause
